A Joyful Autumn Celebration of Music

The Mid-South Symphonic Band kicked off its 2024–2025 season with warmth and energy at our Autumn Celebration concert, held Thursday, October 10 at Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. Led by conductor Scotty Jones, the band brought together a rich and varied program that celebrated both reflection and festivity.

The evening featured powerful and heartfelt pieces like On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss and Burn, which contrasted beautifully with the lively rhythms of Fiesta for Flutes and the patriotic flair of The Stars and Stripes Forever. The program also included selections from American Riversongs and the toe-tapping swing of Benny Goodman: The King of Swing.

A highlight of the night was The Ludlows, which featured a beautiful piano solo by Tara Wilder. Her playing added heartfelt emotion to the piece and was warmly received by the audience.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in welcoming a new season of music! We’re grateful to Christ United Methodist Church for hosting us in their beautiful space, and we look forward to sharing more performances in the months ahead.
