From the Sea to the Stars: A Musical Adventure
The Mid-South Symphonic Band closed out its 2024–2025 season with a bang at our final concert of the year, held May 4 at the Volkswagen Conference Center in Chattanooga. With a galactic and pirate-themed program, we fully embraced the "May the Fourth Be With You" Star Wars spirit—and so did our audience of 380 attendees!
Band members and attendees arrived in costume, bringing the energy of both the high seas and deep space. From lightsabers to eyepatches, the spirit of adventure filled the room—and some lucky young swashbucklers and space travelers even won prizes during the show!
The program featured classic selections from Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Music Man, showcasing both the bold storytelling of John Williams and the flair of Broadway. Conductor Scotty Jones led the band through each twist and turn—often quite literally—changing costumes mid-performance to match the theme of the medleys.
We were also honored to welcome two guest conductors to the podium: Shannon Hornady-Fowler and Jerry Pollard, who each brought their own unique style to the performance.
This concert was a joyful finale to our season. Thank you to all who attended and cheered us on—we’ll see you again in the fall!
